BNP MP Salauddin Quader Chowdhury’s defence counsel resumed cross-examination of the sixth prosecution witness on Tuesday at the war crimes tribunal.
The three-judge International Crimes Tribunal – 1, set up to try crimes against humanity during the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War, indicted the six time MP from Chittagong on Apr 4 for 23 war crimes.
Defence counsel Ahsanul Huq resumed cross-examining Nirmal Chandra Sharma on Tuesday and is expected to continue after lunch.
The tribunal in the morning also allowed a petition from Jamaat-e-Islami leader Delwar Hossain Sayedee’s defence pleading for allowance of home-cooked food at the hospital where he is recuperating from a heart procedure.
The tribunal chairman, Justice Mohammad Nizamul Huq said he would, however, impose certain conditions similar to a previous order passed in Ghulam Azam’s case. That order has yet to be executed.
At the second tribunal the second prosecution witness against Jamaat assistant secretary general Abdul Quader Molla, Shahidul Haque Mama, gave his deposition. It was completed before lunch.
