Investigators on Monday submitted a 119-page report of findings before the International Crimes Tribunal in support of the charges of wartime crimes against detained BNP leader Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury MP.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Nurul Islam, also investigation officer dealing with Salahuddin’s involvement in “crimes against humanity” during the 1971 liberation war, handed over the detailed account of charges to Chief Prosecutor Ghulam Arieff Tipu at 5:45pm for placing it before the trial tribunal.

Earlier on Sunday, Nurul Islam disclosed about submission of the probe report at a press briefing at his Bailey Road office.

Nurul in the press meet had elaborated that they found evidence of Salahuddin’s “involvement in 32 incidents of crimes against humanity” in greater Chittagong during the liberation war.

“We started looking into war crime charges against him on July 26 last year, visited different spots and recorded statements of a total of 146 witnesses,” he said.

The investigator also said they found out that Salahuddin had “committed crimes against humanity, genocide and other offences” in 1971, which all fall under the purview of the International Crimes Tribunal Act-73. When asked, Nurul Islam told reporters that they would submit a report of preliminary investigation into allegations against former Jamaat Ameer Ghulam Azam of committing crimes against humanity before the tribunal within a month.
