Jamaat leader Delwar Hossain Sayedee, detained for trial on charges of wartime ‘crime against humanity’, was Friday set free from jail to attend the funerals of his mother.
After his release on parole around 4:05pm, he was taken to Motijheel Government Boys School premises where his mother’s funeral prayer was held.
The duration of his parole was not mentioned in the release order.

Dhaka, Oct 28 (bdnews24.com) — After conducting his mother’s namaj-e-janaza, Jamaat-e-Islami leader Delwar Hossain Sayedee, charged with crimes against humanity during the Liberation War, has been driven back to the jail.
Dhaka Central Jail prison officer Mahbub-ul-Islam told bdnews24.com on Friday evening that Sayedee was brought back to the jail around 5:45pm, minutes before the lapse of his two-hour parole.
Earlier in the day, he was granted parole by the home ministry to attend his mother’s burial.

The detained Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami nayeb-e-amir Delwar Hossain Sayedee on Thursday appealed for recusal of the International Crimes Tribunal chairman Justice Nizamul Huq.
Sayedee filed the application with the tribunal, which is scheduled for October 30 to begin formal trial of Sayedee on charge of genocide and crimes against humanity committed during the war of independence in 1971.
