ঝালকাঠি : ঝালকাঠির রাজাপুর উপজেলা ছাত্র শিবিরের সভাপতি ফিরোজ আব্দুল্লাহ সিকদারকে (২০) আটক করেছে পুলিশ।
নাশকতামূলক তৎপরতার পরিকল্পনা করার অভিযোগে বুধবার ভোর সাড়ে ৬টার দিকে স্থানীয় বাঘড়ি বাজার থেকে তাকে আটক করা হয়।
আটক ফিরোজ একই উপজেলার হেমায়েত সিকদারের ছেলে। তিনি স্থানীয় একটি মাদ্রাসার আলিম পরীক্ষার্থী।
রাজাপুর থানার উপ-পরিদর্শক (এসআই) আব্দুল হালিম তালুকদার বাংলানিউজকে জানান, ভোর ৬টা’র দিকে ফিরোজ দলীয় নেতাকর্মীদের নিয়ে বাঘড়ি বাজারে বসে নাশকতামূলক তৎপরতার পরিকল্পনা করছিলেন। খবর পেয়ে এসআই হালিমের নেতৃত্বে পুলিশের ১টি দল সেখানে অভিযান চালায়। এসময় পুলিশের উপস্থিতি বুঝতে পেরে অন্যরা পালিয়ে গেলেও ফিরোজ ধরা পড়েন।

Shahriar Kabir, executive president of Ekatturer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee, yesterday called on Ghulam Arieff Tipoo, chief of the prosecution team dealing with war crimes cases, to resign.

“Chief Prosecutor Tipoo Bhai, you should quit. You should take the responsibility of your colleagues…and resign,” Kabir said at a discussion, demanding appointment of skilled lawyers in the prosecution team.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday categorically said the trial of war criminals will go on and they must be brought under the trial process.

“The trail will take place whenever and wherever the war criminals will be found and this process will continue,” she said while addressing the Annual General Meeting of Bangla Academy on its premises.

মেজর জেনারেল (অব:) সৈয়দ মুহাম্মদ ইবরাহিম বীরপ্রতীক বলেছেন, জনগণ যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের বিচার চায়। তবে এই বিচার হতে হবে স্বচ্ছ ও আন্তর্জাতিক মানের।
মুক্তচিন্তা ফোরামের উদ্যোগে গতকাল ঢাকা রিপোর্টার্স ইউনিটির ভিআইপি লাউঞ্জে মুক্তিযুদ্ধ ও বাংলাদেশ শীর্ষক এক মুক্ত আলোচনা সভায় মেজর জেনারেল (অব:) সৈয়দ মুহাম্মদ ইবরাহিম বীরপ্রতীক এ কথা বলেন। অনুষ্ঠানটি উপস’াপনা করেন সংগঠনের যুগ্ম সম্পাদক সাংবাদিক আমিনুল ইসলাম। অনুষ্ঠানে আগত শ্রোতারা সৈয়দ মুহাম্মদ ইবরাহিমের কাছে বিভিন্ন প্রশ্ন করেন। সৈয়দ মুহাম্মদ ইবরাহিম বেশ কয়েকটি প্রশ্নের উত্তর দেন। কয়েকটি প্রশ্নের উত্তরে মন্তব্য করেননি তিনি।

‘১৯৭১ সালে মুক্তিযুদ্ধ চলাকালে যেসব বর্বরতার অভিযোগ রয়েছে, তা সংঘটনের সাথে অধ্যাপক গোলাম আযম কোনোভাবে সরাসরি জড়িত ছিলেন, এমন কোনো কিছু আমরা পাইনি।’
১৯৯৪ সালে জামায়াতে ইসলামীর সাবেক আমির অধ্যাপক গোলাম আযমের নাগরিকত্ব ফিরিয়ে দেয়ার বিষয়ে দেশের সুপ্রিম কোর্টের আপিল বিভাগের রায়ে এ কথা উল্লেখ রয়েছে।
রায়ে আরো উল্লেখ করা হয়, ‘পাকিস্তানি আর্মি ও তাদের সহযোগী বাহিনী রাজাকার, আলবদর কিংবা আলশামসের বিরুদ্ধে ১৯৭১ সালে যেসব বর্বরতার অভিযোগ রয়েছে, তার একটির সাথেও অধ্যাপক গোলাম আযমের সরাসরি কোনো সম্পর্ক নেই।’

বরগুনার পাথরঘাটা উপজেলায় ‘কলেমার দাওয়াত’ নামের একটি সংগঠনের ১১ যুবককে গ্রেপ্তার করেছে পুলিশ। শহরের লঞ্চঘাট এলাকার একটি বাসা থেকে বুধবার রাতে তাঁদের গ্রেপ্তার করা হয়

রাজধানীতে আয়োজিত এক আলোচনা সভায় একাত্তরের ঘাতক দালাল নির্মূল কমিটির নির্বাহী সভাপতি শাহরিয়ার কবির বলেছেন, আন্তর্জাতিক অপরাধ ট্রাইব্যুনালে রাষ্ট্রপক্ষের প্রধান কৌঁসুলি গোলাম আরিফের পদত্যাগ করা উচিত।
মুক্তিযুদ্ধ জাদুঘরে গতকাল শুক্রবার ‘যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের বিচার ও বর্তমান প্রেক্ষাপট’ শীর্ষক আলোচনা সভা হয়। প্রজন্ম-৭১ আয়োজিত এই আলোচনায় বক্তারা মানবতাবিরোধী অপরাধের বিচারে রাষ্ট্রপক্ষে পর্যাপ্তসংখ্যক দক্ষ ও অভিজ্ঞ কৌঁসুলি নিয়োগের দাবি জানান।

ঢাকা: আর মাত্র ক’টা দিন।২০১১ সাল চলে গেলেও বর্তমান ক্ষমতাসীন সরকারের নির্রাচনী ইশতেহারের অন্যতম বিষয় যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের বিচারের বিষয়ে ধোঁয়াশা যেন কিছুতেই কাটছে না। গত বছর ২৫ মার্চ যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের বিচারের জন্যে গঠিত হয় আন্তর্জাতিক অপরাধ ট্রাইব্যুনাল। যদিও এর কার্যক্রম শুরু হয় ২৮ মার্চ। শুরুতে ট্রাইব্যুনালের কার্যক্রম নিয়ে অনেক অসন্তোষ থাকলেও বর্তমানে কার্যক্রম কিছুটা গতি পাচ্ছে। কিন্তু তারপরও সেক্টর কমান্ডার্স ফোরাম, ওয়ার ক্রাইমস ফ্যাক্টস ফাইন্ডিং কমিটি সহ মুক্তিযুদ্ধের পক্ষের অনেক বুদ্ধিজীবীরাই বলছেণ, এই সরকারের আর বেশীদিন বাকি নেই। তাই এই সরকারের আমলে এই বিচার শেষ করতে হলে এর কার্যক্রমকে আরও গতিশীল এবং …

KARACHI, Dec 29: A book titled ‘Women, war and the making of Bangladesh — remembering 1971’ by Yasmin Saikia was launched at a local hotel on Thursday evening.

The event featured a simultaneous conversation between Ms Saikia, a professor of history at the Arizona State University, and literary critic Dr Asif Farrukhi.
