মুক্তিযুদ্ধকালে সংঘটিত মানবতাবিরোধী অপরাধের তিনটি মামলা নিষ্পত্তির জন্য আন্তর্জাতিক অপরাধ ট্রাইব্যুনাল-১ থেকে ট্রাইব্যুনাল-২-এ স্থানান্তর করা হয়েছে। ট্রাইব্যুনাল-১ গতকাল সোমবার এ-সংক্রান্ত আদেশ দেন।
যে তিনটি মামলা স্থানান্তরের আদেশ দেওয়া হয়েছে, সেগুলো হলো: জামায়াতে ইসলামীর দুই সহকারী সেক্রেটারি জেনারেল মো. কামারুজ্জামান ও আবদুল কাদের মোল্লা এবং বিএনপির সাবেক মন্ত্রী আবদুল আলীমের বিরুদ্ধে মানবতাবিরোধী অপরাধের মামলা।
ট্রাইব্যুনাল-১-এ গতকাল রাষ্ট্রপক্ষের প্রধান কৌঁসুলি গোলাম আরিফ এ তিনটি মামলা ট্রাইব্যুনাল-২-এ স্থানান্তরের আবেদনের শুনানি করেন। তিনি আন্তর্জাতিক অপরাধ (ট্রাইব্যুনালস) আইন, ১৯৭৩-এর ১১এ ধারা অনুসারে মামলা দ্রুত নিষ্পত্তির জন্য স্থানান্তরের আরজি জানান। রাষ্ট্রপক্ষ গত রোববার মামলা স্থানান্তরের এ আবেদন করে।

The first war crimes tribunal on Tuesday adjourned the deposition of investigation officer of Jamaat-e-Islami leader Delwar Hossain Sayedee’s case.
ASP Mohammad Helal Uddin, the 28th prosecution witness, landed on Sayedee’s native Pirojpur, where he is alleged to have committed war crimes, on the sixth day of his deposition.
Helal Uddin had dwelt mostly upon the general context of the Liberation War in 1971 and how it began. He gave a vivid and detailed description of the night of Mar 25 when the Pakistan Army descended upon the civilian population of Bangladesh.

Investigations into suspected war criminals Chowdhury Mueen-Uddin and Ashrafuzzaman Khan are in the final stages, investigation agency of the International Crimes Tribunal told The Daily Star yesterday.

One of Britain’s top Muslim activists is facing war crimes charges in Bangladesh.
Chowdhury Mueen-Uddin, the director of Muslim spiritual care provision in the NHS and a trustee of the charity Muslim Aid, is accused of involvement in the abduction and murder of ‘intellectuals’ during Bangladesh’s struggle for independence in the 1970s.
Mr Mueen-Uddin has denied any involvement in the crimes he has been allegedly linked with – but faces the death penalty if convicted.
