একাত্তর সালে মুক্তিযুদ্ধের সময় সংঘটিত মানবতাবিরোধী অপরাধের বিচার-প্রক্রিয়া এক বড় ধাক্কা খেল এই অপরাধ তদন্তে গঠিত সংস্থার প্রধান আবদুল মতীনের পদত্যাগের ঘটনায়। বার্তা সংস্থার খবরে বলা হয়েছে, আবদুল মতীন বুধবার স্বেচ্ছায় স্বরাষ্ট্রসচিবের কাছে পদত্যাগপত্র জমা দিয়েছেন। প্রকৃতপক্ষে একে স্বেচ্ছায় পদত্যাগ বলা যাবে না। কারণ, তাঁর বিরুদ্ধে অভিযোগ তুলেছেন স্বয়ং প্রধানমন্ত্রীর একজন উপদেষ্টা এবং এরপর এই পদত্যাগের ঘটনা ঘটল। এর মধ্য দিয়ে প্রমাণিত হলো, এ ধরনের একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সংস্থার প্রধান নিয়োগের ক্ষেত্রে সরকার দায়িত্বশীলতার পরিচয় দেয়নি। ঘটনাটি মানবতাবিরোধী বিচারের …

যুদ্ধকালীন অপরাধ তদন্ত সংস্থা
মুক্তিযুদ্ধকালে মানবতার বিরুদ্ধে সংঘটিত অপরাধ তদন্তে গঠিত সংস্থার প্রধান আবদুল মতীন গতকাল বুধবার স্বেচ্ছায় পদত্যাগ করেছেন। সরকার এই পদে এখন নতুন লোক খুঁজছে।
ছাত্রজীবনে জামায়াতে ইসলামীর ছাত্রসংগঠন ইসলামী ছাত্রসংঘের কর্মী ছিলেন বলে সম্প্রতি তাঁর বিরুদ্ধে অভিযোগ ওঠে। তিনি এ অভিযোগ অস্বীকার করলেও বিতর্ক এড়াতে পদত্যাগ করার সিদ্ধান্ত নেন। গতকাল সকালে স্বরাষ্ট্রসচিব আবদুস সোবহান সিকদারের কাছে পদত্যাগপত্র পেশ করেন তিনি।
