There is an apparent suggestion that prosecutors are about to lodge complaint after completing their investigation against a UK national of Bangladeshi origin for his alleged crime against humanity. Prosecutors along with the Law Minister of Bangladesh have vowed to bring all accused of war crimes no matter where they live, to book. The investigation officer who probed the war crimes charges against Delawar Hossain Sayedee yesterday gave an overview of 23 incidents of atrocity the Jamaat-e-Islami leader was allegedly involved in during the Liberation War.
They include mass murder, rape, arson, looting, abduction, torture and forced conversions of religion during the war.

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy premiered a conceptual play, “Dinguli Kemon Chhilo”, on the Liberation War. To depict the immensity of the war, the academy has chosen a form known as “environmental theatre” for the production.
The play premiered on April 17 at the vacant space in front of the National Art Gallery. Ashish Khandakar, known as an expert in the theatre form, has conceptualised and directed the play.

The officer investigating the war crimes charges against Jamaat-e-Islami leaderl Delwar Hossain Sayedee in his deposition on Thursday said that a number of records and documents dating back to 1971 had been destroyed.

Video footages of the massacre carried out by the Pakistani occupation army on the night past March 25, 1971 and atrocities committed by them during Bangladesh’s war of independence were played in the International Crimes Tribunal-1 on Tuesday.

Anomalies in page numbers continue to haunt the prosecution as it failed to have pictures of Bhagirathi Square exhibited as evidence against Jamaat-e-Islami leader Delwar Hossain Sayedee at the war crimes tribunal on Wednesday.

The International Crimes Tribunal-1 on Tuesday deferred to May 2 its order on framing of charges against the detained former Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami amir Ghulam Azam.
The tribunal, also known as war crimes tribunal, set up for trial of the 1971 war crimes, deferred the order because the judges were yet to complete examination of the charges and the arguments made by the prosecution and the defence counsel.

Chowdhury Mueen-Uddin, director of Muslim spiritual care provision in the NHS, a trustee of the major British charity Muslim Aid and a central figure in setting up the Muslim Council of Britain, fiercely denies any involvement in a number of abductions and “disappearances” during Bangladesh’s independence struggle in the 1970s.

The first war crimes tribunal on Tuesday adjourned the deposition of investigation officer of Jamaat-e-Islami leader Delwar Hossain Sayedee’s case.
ASP Mohammad Helal Uddin, the 28th prosecution witness, landed on Sayedee’s native Pirojpur, where he is alleged to have committed war crimes, on the sixth day of his deposition.
Helal Uddin had dwelt mostly upon the general context of the Liberation War in 1971 and how it began. He gave a vivid and detailed description of the night of Mar 25 when the Pakistan Army descended upon the civilian population of Bangladesh.
