DHAKA: The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 fixed Tuesday for issuing the verdict in the war crimes case against Jamaat leader Abdul Quader Mollah.
About all television channels broadcasted the news on Monday morning. But tribunal-2 did not declare the date formally.
On January 17, the tribunal led by Obaidul Hasan concluded the proceedings of the case fixing no date and time for the verdict.
The court has kept the case as CAV which means the verdict could be delivered any time.

Petitions for retrial of war crimes cases against Jamaat-e-Islami leaders Ghulam Azam, Motiur Rahman Nizami, Delawar Hossain Sayedee and Muhammad Kamruzzaman were rejected on Thursday.
The International Crimes Tribunal-1 rejected three petitions of Ghulam Azam, Nizami and Sayedee while the ICT-2 rejected the petition of Kamruzzaman.
The Jamaat leaders are facing the trial for committing crimes against humanity during the country’s Liberation War in 1971.

DHAKA: Bangladeshi Islamic leaders demanded a retrial yesterday for war crimes, including genocide, saying a leaked transcript of phone calls showed the trial judge had come under pressure to deliver a quick verdict.
Lawyers representing Motiur Rahman Nizami, who is head of the opposition Jamaat-e-Islami party, Ghulam Azam and Delawar Hossain Sayedee had filed petitions before a court in Dhaka, defense lawyer Tanvir Ahmed said.

DHAKA: Jamaat leaders Matiur Rahman Nizami and Delwar Hossain Sayedee on Sunday pleaded to International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 for retrial of charges against them for committing crimes against humanity during the country’s liberation war in 1971.

A former guerrilla told the first war crimes tribunal on Tuesday that Jamaat-e-Islami chief Motiur Rahman Nizami had tortured him at a Dhaka army camp during the War of Independence.
The prosecution witness placed Nizami at an infamous camp in Dhaka’s Nakhalparha where freedom fighters and sometimes their sympathisers are said to have been tortured in 1971.
The three-judge International Crimes Tribunal-1, set up to try crimes against humanity during the war, indicted Nizami on May 28 on 16 war crimes charges.

An eyewitness yesterday testified that he had seen Jamaat-e-Islami leaders Ghulam Azam, Motiur Rahman Nizami and Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed at a Pakistan army and their collaborators’ camp at Mohammadpur during the Liberation War.

War hero Jalal testifies at war crimes tribunal
Jamaat leaders Nizami and Mojaheed tortured martyred freedom fighter Rumi and musician Altaf Mahmud at a camp of the Pakistani army in Nakhalpara of Dhaka, said a witness before the International Crimes Tribunal-2 yesterday.
Rumi and Altaf never came home as Nizami and Mojaheed decided to have them killed, said second prosecution witness and freedom fighter Zahir Uddin Jalal in the war crimes case against Mojaheed.
