Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday categorically said the trial of war criminals will go on and they must be brought under the trial process.

“The trail will take place whenever and wherever the war criminals will be found and this process will continue,” she said while addressing the Annual General Meeting of Bangla Academy on its premises.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday sought the cooperation of all in completing the trial of war criminals to establish the rule of law in the country.

DHAKA: The leftwing 11-party combine Monday demanded speedy trial of the suspects in wartime crimes during the 1971 Bangladesh liberation war, as they decided to gear up a united political move in the present context.
The eleven parties will stage a meeting in front of the National Press Club on November 2 to demand the speedy trial of ‘war criminals’.

ঢাকা: জামায়াত নেতা ব্যারিস্টার আবদুর রাজ্জাককে চার মাসের আগাম জামিন দিয়েছেন হাইকোর্ট।
বিচারপতি সালমা মাসুদ চৌধুরী ও বিচারপতি মুহাম্মদ হাবিবুল গনির সমন্বয়ে গঠিত হাইকোর্ট বেঞ্চ তার এ জামিন আবেদন মঞ্জুর করেন।
উল্লেখ্য, গত ১৯ সেপ্টেম্বর পল্টন থানায় দায়ের করা মামলায় তাকে অভিযুক্ত করা হয়। তার পক্ষে মঙ্গলবার শুনানী করেন ব্যারিস্টার রফিকুল হক।
পল্টন এলাকায় পুলিশের সঙ্গে জামায়েত নেতা-কর্মীদের সংঘর্ষের জন্য ব্যারিস্টার আবদুর রাজ্জাককে কর্মীদের মদদ দেওয়ার অভিযোগ আনা হয়।
ওই ঘটনার সময় তিনি দেশের বাইরে ছিলেন। সোমবার রাতে তিনি দেশে এসেছেন এবং  মঙ্গলবার এই জামিন আবেদন করেন।

The Bangladesh government on Sunday filed a petition with its International Crimes Tribunal, seeking permission to show four detained top Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) leaders as arrested in connection with “war crimes” committed in 1971. একাত্তরের মানবতা-বিরোধী অপরাধের বিচারের জন্য গঠিত আন্তর্জাতিক অপরাধ ট্রাইব্যুনাল তার কার্যবিধি তৈরি ও প্রকাশ করেছে। মানবাধিকার, আন্তর্জাতিক মান ও রীতি বিবেচনায় রেখে নিরপেক্ষ বিচার নিশ্চিত করার লক্ষ্যে এই কার্যবিধি করা হয়েছে।

‘যুদ্ধাপরাধীরা সবাই মুসলমান বলে মুসলমান অধ্যুষিত বাংলাদেশে তাদের বিচার করা দুরূহ’ এটি একটি খেলো যুক্তি। নাৎসি যুদ্ধাপরাধীরা সবাই ছিল খ্রিস্টান এবং প্রধান অপরাধীরা ছিল জার্মান। তাই বলে ব্রিটেন, ফ্রান্স, আমেরিকার মতো খ্রিস্টান দেশগুলোর দ্বারা জার্মানির অন্তর্গত নুরেমবার্গ শহরেই এই যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের বিচার হতে কোনো বাধা হয়নি। বাংলাদেশে একাত্তরের যুদ্ধাপরাধীরা কোন ধর্মের লোক তা একটা বিচার্য বিষয় নয়। অপরাধ যে করে সে-ই অপরাধী। ধর্ম দ্বারা তার পরিচয় নির্ধারিত হয় না। বাংলাদেশে এমন একটি পরিবার নেই, যারা একাত্তর সালে প্রত্যক্ষ বা পরোক্ষভাবে এই যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের বর্বর কার্যকলাপের শিকার হয়নি। ফলে বাংলাদেশে যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের বিচারের দাবি আজ এত সোচ্চার। এই দাবি পূরণ না করলেই বরং আওয়ামী লীগ সরকার জনপ্রিয়তা হারাবে।
