ঢাকা, মার্চ ২১ (বিডিনিউজ টোয়েন্টিফোর ডটকম)- একাত্তরের যুদ্ধাপরাধের বিচার ‘ত্বরান্বিত’ করতে আরেকটি ট্রাইব্যুনাল গঠনের প্রজ্ঞাপন বৃহস্পতিবারই হচ্ছে বলে সরকারের শীর্ষ পর্যায়ের একটি সূত্র জানিয়েছে।
প্রথম ট্রাইব্যুনাল গঠনের দুই বছর পর গঠিত হতে যাওয়া দ্বিতীয় ট্রাইব্যুনালে বর্তমান ট্রাইব্যুনালের সদস্য বিচারপতি এ টি এম ফজলে কবীরকে প্রধান করা হচ্ছে।
ওই সূত্র বুধবার বিডিনিউজ টোয়েন্টিফোর ডটকমকে জানায়, দ্বিতীয় ট্রাইব্যুনালে অন্য দুই সদস্য হচ্ছেন বিচারপতি ওবায়দুল হাসান ও বর্তমান ট্রাইব্যুনালের নিবন্ধক মো. শাহীনুর ইসলাম।
ওই ব্যক্তি বলেন, “বিচারপতি ফজলে কবীরের স্থলে প্রথম ট্রাইব্যুনালে বিচারপতি আনোয়ারুল হককে সদস্য করা হবে।”

The International Crimes Tribunal Tuesday deferred till March 27 the indictment hearing against BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury MP detained for his alleged involvement with the crimes against humanity.
The tribunal fixed the new date for hearing due to absence of one justice among three of the tribunal.
The tribunal said in verbal order, “We do not want to continue hearing of the charge in absence of one justice though it has no legal bar to hold hearing.”
Later, it fixed March 27 for hearing of the charge framing against the Jamaat leader.

The government will announce names of judges of the second war crimes tribunal in “two to three days”.
State minister for law Qamrul Islam told reporters on Tuesday that logistics were almost in place and reiterated that the second tribunal would begin functioning within the month.

The war crimes tribunal adjourned proceedings of a case against Jamaat-e-Islami secretary general Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujaheed until Mar 22 after the prosecution finished reading 109-page formal charge on Tuesday.

Says law minister
The government is going to form the second International Crimes Tribunal within this month for quick disposal of war-crimes related cases, Law Minister Shafique Ahmed told The Daily Star yesterday.
The investigation agency and prosecution team, who are dealing with cases at the existing tribunal, would also deal with cases at the new tribunal, he said.

Bangladesh has almost completed investigation against eight more persons in connection with their involvement in war crimes during the 1971 Liberation War.
Apart from the eight, investigations are also going on against 10 to 12 others.
According to highly-placed sources yesterday, the investigation agency will hand over probe reports of the eight to the prosecution soon, but the hearing will not start until the second tribunal starts functioning.

The ICT tribunal Tuesday rejected all pleas of BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury MP detained in the case filed for his alleged involvement with the crimes against humanity.
The tribunal also fixed March 20 for indictment hearing against the BNP leader him as exempt plea of him rejected.
