[Letter of protest/demands submitted to Pakistan govt : link ]

 Strongly condemning and protesting the Pakistan government’s outrageous statement dated 30 November denying involvement of its armed forces in perpetrating genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity during the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971, the International Crimes Strategy Forum (ICSF) organised a protest event in front of the Pakistan High Commission in London on 03 December, 2015.

Participants at the event condemned Pakistan’s thoughtless position and with the help of posters, festoons and slogans put on display the historic backdrop of: the killing of an estimated 3 million Bengalees, and raping of more than 200,000 women and girls perpetrated by members of the Pakistani army and its local collaborators; the internal displacement of nearly 30 million civilians and the taking of forced shelter of an estimated 10 million in the refugee camps of India escaping from the marauding Pakistani army’s atrocities. ICSF believes that Pakistan’s statement denying involvement in this genocide and the other core international crimes that it committed against humanity is tantamount to denial of historically established facts and overwhelming evidence and an attempt to question the legitimacy of Bangladesh’s long struggle for independence.

Speakers at the protest event condemned the unprincipled position taken by Pakistan and demanded that Pakistan immediately retract its statement and refrain from passing comments that are of highly objectionable nature and impede the justice process in Bangladesh. At the same time the demand to begin investigations against and carry out trials of identified Pakistani war criminals in Pakistan was also forcefully raised, failing which Pakistan was urged to offer cooperation to the Bangladesh Government so that trial proceedings could be initiated in Bangladesh. Speakers further demanded full compensation and reparation for the victims of Pakistan’s aggression and atrocities in 1971, realisation of equitable share of assets and properties worth about USD 4.32 billion of undivided Pakistan, and the return of USD 200 million of foreign aid donated by the international community for rehabilitation of victims of the devastating cyclone in 1970 which was siphoned off by Pakistan. At the event, a resolute demand was raised calling upon the Pakistan Government to beg apology for the core international crimes committed during 1971.

As a part of the on going effort protesting and resisting the thoughtless position of the Pakistan Government, ICSF declared its initiative to convene the “Citizens’ Global Committee for 1971” with a goal to present before the international community and realise the demands for recognition of and justice against the genocide that was committed, restoring dignity of the victims, and equity. Members of ICSF called upon the international community, including the civil society to join and strengthen this campaign.

Rayhan Rashid, Yasmin Mahmud Polin, Shahriar Bin Ali, Mefta Islam, Sushanta Das Gupta and Kazi Shamsul Hassan Shuvo spoke at the event which was conducted by Pushpita Gupta. President of the UK Awami League Sultan Mahmud, Mozibul Hoque Moni, Juyel Raaj, Saikat Acharjee, Suhana Zaman, Omar Faruk, Rajib Ahmed, Ataur Rahman, Manas Haldar and members of the Awami League, cultural personalities along with representatives of the student and professional community were also present.

গণহত্যা অস্বীকারের প্রতিবাদে লন্ডনস্থ পাকিস্তান হাইকমিশনের সামনে আইসিএসএফ–এর বিক্ষোভ সমাবেশ

১৯৭১ সালে বাংলাদেশের স্বাধীনতা যুদ্ধে পাকিস্তানের সেনা বাহিনী কর্তৃক সংঘটিত গনহত্যা, যুদ্ধাপরাধ এবং মানবতাবিরোধী অপরাধে পাকিস্তানী সেনাবাহিনীর সম্পৃক্ততাকে সম্পূর্ণ অস্বীকৃতি জানিয়ে গত ৩০ নভেম্বর ২০১৫ পাকিস্তান সরকারের দেয়া বক্তব্যর প্রতি তীব্র নিন্দা ও প্রতিবাদ জ্ঞাপন করে ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ক্রাইমস স্ট্র্যাটেজি ফোরাম (আইসিএসএফ) ৩ ডিসেম্বর ২০১৫ লন্ডনের পাকিস্তান হাইকমিশনের সামনে একটি প্রতিবাদ সভার আয়োজন করে।

সভায় পাকিস্তানের এই হঠকারী অবস্থানের নিন্দা জানিয়ে উপস্থিত জনতা পোস্টার, ফেস্টুন এবং স্লোগানের মাধ্যমে তুলে ধরেন ঐতিহাসিক দৃশ্যপটঃ ১৯৭১ এ বাংলাদেশের মুক্তি সংগ্রামে পাকিস্তানী সেনাবাহিনী এবং স্থানীয় সহযোগীরা আনুমানিক ৩০ লক্ষ মানুষ হত্যা করে এবং ধর্ষণ করে প্রায় ২ লক্ষ নারীদের, পাকিস্তানী সেনাবাহিনীর অত্যাচার থেকে বাঁচার তাগিদে ১ কোটি বেসামরিক বাঙালি আশ্রয় নেয় ভারতের সীমান্তে রিফিউজি ক্যাম্পে এবং প্রায় ৩ কোটি বেসামরিক মানুষ আভ্যন্তরীণভাবে বাস্তুচ্যুত হন। আইসিএসএফ মনে করে এই সব গণহত্যা এবং মানবতার বিরুদ্ধে আন্তর্জাতিক অপরাধের বিষয়ে পাকিস্তানের অস্বীকৃতি জানানো মূলত প্রতিষ্ঠিত ঐতিহাসিক সত্য অস্বীকার করা এবং বাংলাদেশের সুদীর্ঘ স্বাধীনতার সংগ্রামকে প্রশ্নবিদ্ধ করার প্রয়াস।

প্রতিবাদ সভায় বক্তারা পাকিস্তানের এই নীতিবহির্ভূত অবস্থানের প্রতিবাদে পাকিস্তান সরকারের কাছে অবিলম্বে তাদের বক্তব্য প্রত্যাহার এবং ভবিষ্যতে এ ধরণের আপত্তিকর বক্তব্যসহ বাংলাদেশের বিচারপ্রক্রিয়ায় হস্তক্ষেপকারি যে কোন বক্তব্য প্রদানে বিরত থাকার দাবী জানান। সেই সাথে পাকিস্তানের চিহ্নিত অপরাধীদের বিরুদ্ধে পাকিস্তানে তদন্ত শুরু ও তাদের বিচারের আওতায় আনা, অন্যথায় বাংলাদেশের মাটিতে তাদের বিচার প্রক্রিয়া শুরুতে বাংলাদেশ সরকারকে পাকিস্তান সরকারের সহযোগিতার দাবীও দৃঢ়ভাবে উচ্চারিত হয়। যুদ্ধকালীন পাকিস্তানী সেনাবাহিনী কর্তৃক গণহত্যায় ক্ষতিগ্রস্তদের জন্য সম্পূর্ণ ক্ষতিপূরণ দেয়া, অবিভক্ত পাকিস্তানের অংশ হিসেবে বাংলাদেশের ন্যায্য অংশীদারিত্বের সম্পদ বাবদ প্রায় ৪.৩২ বিলিয়ন মার্কিন ডলার এবং পাকিস্তান কর্তৃক আত্মসাৎকৃত ১৯৭০ সালে তৎকালীন পূর্ব পাকিস্তানে ঘূর্ণিঝড় দুর্গতদের সাহায্যার্থে আন্তর্জাতিক সম্প্রদায়ের অনুদিত ২০০ মিলিয়ন মার্কিন ডলারের ন্যায্য হিস্যা বুঝিয়ে দেয়ার দাবী উত্থাপন করেন উপস্থিত সদস্যরা। সমাবেশে ১৯৭১ এ পাকিস্তানের করা যুদ্ধাপরাধের জন্য রাষ্ট্রীয়ভাবে ক্ষমা চাওয়ার সুস্পষ্ট জোর দাবী ওঠে।

পাকিস্তানী সরকারের হঠকারী অবস্থানের বিরুদ্ধে প্রতিবাদ ও প্রতিরোধ কার্যক্রমের অংশ হিসেবে ১৯৭১ এ পাকিস্তানের করা গণহত্যার বিপরীতে ন্যায়বিচার প্রতিষ্ঠা, গণহত্যার স্বীকৃতি, নির্যাতিতদের আত্মমর্যাদা পুনরুদ্ধার এবং সমদর্শী ন্যায়পরায়ণতা প্রতিষ্ঠার দীর্ঘদিনের দাবিগুলোকে আন্তর্জাতিক অঙ্গনে এগিয়ে নেয়ার লক্ষ্যে সভায় আইসিএসএফ এর পক্ষ থেকে “Citizens Global Committee For 1971”  কার্যক্রমের উল্লেখ করা হয়। আন্তর্জাতিক সম্প্রদায় এবং নাগরিক সমাজকে এই কার্যক্রমে অংশ নিয়ে এই দাবিকে আরো শক্তিশালী করার আহবান জানান আইসিএসএফ এর সদস্যরা।

পুষ্পিতা গুপ্ত’র পরিচালনায় সভায় বক্তব্য রাখেন রায়হান রশিদ, ইয়াসমিন মাহমুদ পলিন, শাহরিয়ার বিন আলী, মেফতা ইসলাম, সুশান্ত দাস গুপ্ত এবং কাজী শামসুল হাসান শুভ। সভায় উপস্থিত ছিলেন যুক্তরাজ্য আওয়ামী লীগ সভাপতি সুলতান শরীফ, মজিবুল হক মণি, জুয়েল রাজ, সৈকত আচার্য, সুহানা জামান, ওমর ফারুক, রাজিব আহমেদ, আতাউর রহমান, সুমন দাস, মানস হালদার সহ আওয়ামী লীগের সদস্য, সাংস্কৃতিক ব্যক্তিত্ব এবং ছাত্র-পেশাজীবী কমিউনিটির বিভিন্ন গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ব্যক্তিবর্গ।
